It is 6.5 kilometres south of Cork City centre, in an area known as Farmers Cross. In 2018, Cork Airport handled 2.39 million passengers, growing by over 8% to 2.58 million in 2019. Following a decline during the COVID-19 global pandemic, which saw passenger numbers fall to 530,000 in 2020, numbers had risen to 3,068,000 by 2024 and 3,460,000 by 2025.
