Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is one of two international airports serving Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province in Southwestern China, with the other being Chengdu Tianfu International Airport. Its predecessor was Chengdu Shuangguisi Airport (成都雙桂寺機場), built in 1938. In 1956, the airport was transferred to the Civil Aviation Administration and renamed Chengdu Shuangliu Airport (成都雙流機場). Since then, the airport has been expanded eight times, making it one of the oldest airports in China.
